Bercy Village

Since our hotel is in Bercy Village, my mom and I decided to just hang around in the area before beginning our Saturday and Sunday culture fest. This market area is relatively small. It is mainly shops, restaurants and a cinema. We went into several of the shops, but they weren’t really keen on photos being taken. “No photos, s’il vous plait.” Restaurants with outdoor seating lined a large part of the avenue. We ate dinner at one of the restaurants. The meal itself wasn’t anything special but the fact that we were eating it in Paris was what made it memorable! Later, we decided to see a movie, so we went to the cinema to see Taken 2. I was amazed that the theater was packed because the movies were in English with French subtitles. (Am I the only one who finds that a bit  weird in FRANCE? Bercy isn’t even a major English-speaking tourist area…most of the other people in the theater were speaking French.) In any event, Day 1 in Paris was nice and relaxing. Time is six hours ahead of EST here, so it’s past midnight. Bonsoir!
