Gym considerations featuring Sports Club/LA, Club Fitness & more

Credit: Sports Club/LA - New York

Yesterday, I shared about the best gyms in NYC for moms in five different categories. There are several things that you want to consider before making your final pick though. For example…

-What are your personal fitness goals? What type of support (classes, personal trainers, nutrition counseling) will you need from a gym in order to reach them?

-When will you (realistically) go to the gym? If it’s early in the morning or late at night, choose accordingly.

-Where will you be leaving/going to before and after your gym visits – work, school, one of your kids’ activities? Keep that in mind when choosing your gym location.

-How much can you afford to spend on a gym membership? While you can usually catch a special (or a deal) to join, be certain that you are clear on the terms of payment for the long-term.

I also want to share several other NYC gyms that are wonderful, highly recommended options:

1. Club Fitness New York (Astoria)
This top rated club also offers childcare.

2. Harbor Fitness (Bay Ridge & Park Slope)
Known as “Brooklyn’s Gym”, the original Bay Ridge location has been in existence for over 20 years. Currently, you can register on their site for a 3-day pass to try out this gym that also offers childcare.

3. Push Fitness Club (Queens)
Members speak favorably about this club that offers a variety of group fitness classes. Short membership options; after-hour gym access for premium members and the childcare center are often mentioned.

4. Quick Fitness Gym (Williamsburg/Greenpoint Brooklyn)
Local residents consider this highly praised gym a secret “gem”. Their variety of classes, friendly trainers and flexible attendance commitments stand out. Also “quick” refers to the fact that there are not long lines to use the equipment.

5. Reebok Sports Club/NY
160 Columbus Ave
2nd Floor
New York, NY 10023

“For Kids Only” childcare

Sports Club/LA – New York

“For Kids Only” childcare

Even though they have different names and locations, you will receive the same luxurious gym experience from these two clubs that fall under the helm of Sports Club/LA. Memberships are a bit pricey, but they definitely afford a variety of privileges! Benefits include over 100 group classes, personal training, sports training options and nutrition counseling. Parents will especially appreciate their “For Kids Only” childcare and enrichment programs (including Parents’ Night Out).
