DIY Double Boiler for Chocolate (How to Make Your Own)

Merry Christmas! We have reached Day 25 of the“A Dessert a Day ‘Til Christmas 2021″ series. Since (almost) everything tastes better when dipped in chocolate I’m resharing a DIY double boiler for chocolate post today.

I have used it to make chocolate-covered Candy Canes, Dried Fruit (Mango), Potato Chips and Pretzels.

Since I have a pretty small NYC kitchen, I don’t keep a whole lot of different pots and pans around. I try to stick with the basics…things that I will frequently use. A double boiler pot doesn’t fall into that category. Fortunately, I don’t need one. You don’t either. You can easily make your own. Here is how to make a DIY double boiler for chocolate.

1. Basically, you find one of your heatproof bowls that fit over one of your saucepans.

2. Fill the saucepan with a few inches of water and heat it until the water is simmering.

3. Put the chocolate in the heatproof bowl and place the bowl of chocolate on top of the saucepan.

4. Frequently stir the chocolate in the bowl until it is smooth before removing it from the heat.

That’s it! Enjoy!
