Yesterday, my son Michael performed in his second martial arts tournament. Before we went to the tournament, we had the “good sportsmanship” chat. I encouraged him to do his best and not to worry about the outcome…to be a gracious winner OR loser. Well, it turned out to be his day because he received first place in both kata and kumite for his belt class. I don’t know if he was more excited about that or by the fact that he gets to test for his next belt soon. Either way, I was happy for my little karate kid.
