Top 30 NY Mom Blogs That I Love – 13 to 18

Update: I was doing this so quickly that I failed to include the previous links. Here they are:
Overview
1 to 6
-7 to 12
Enjoy!

Getting through this list is taking much longer than I expected. It’s not because I can’t think of great things about each woman. Rather, the camp administrator position that I am holding is taking up much more time than I initially anticipated. Anyway, I definitely think that you should get to know these next six bloggers…

13. Linda Grant (New York City Single Mom): I admire single moms who are focused parents. I get tired parenting my kids by myself when my husband has crazy work weeks. I can’t fathom doing it on my own on a consistent basis. The fact that Linda adopted her daughter/chose to be a single mom to a child in need makes her extra special in my book. Besides being an attentive mom, Linda is an encouraging friend and cheerleader to her fellow bloggers. I like getting “glimpses” of different realities and I like what I see when I read Linda’s blog.

14. Lisa (New York Chica): Lisa has the sweetest face that you would ever want to see…and the personality to match. She is an easy chica (friend). The thing that I especially love about Lisa as a person is that she is a learner and very grateful. She wants to be better at what she does and is great about getting input. She is also wonderful about expressing her thankfulness when others do her a favor. Those are such attractive personality traits (to me anyway…those are traits that I definitely want my kids to grow up with!). I like to read Lisa’s blog, to see a Latin “sister’s” take on city living. Lisa also has the cutest, sweetest daughter….

15. Liz Gumbinner (Cool Mom Picks and Mom-101): There are so many great things that I could write about Liz and her blogs. I really like Cool Mom Picks where you can find unique products, but I love her personal blog. It is on Mom-101, where I enjoy reading the “common to every mom” experiences written in such a simple yet eloquent way. I can totally relate when she writes about the joys and challenges of raising her two girls (even though I have two boys). Sometimes her writings make me laugh and at other times they bring a tear to my eye. Liz is one of the original NY bloggers and she has (deservedly) received a lot of praise over the years. The best praise that I can give is that besides being a great writer, Liz is a truly devoted mom and a champion of other moms. I have seen her with her two little girls and it is obvious that they are the joy of her world. I am also very grateful that Liz goes out of her way to help encourage and promote other new bloggers – including myself. She truly is a “cool” mom!

16. Marinka (Motherhood in NYC): Marinka is one of the funniest people that I know, so it is fitting that she has a humor blog. The first time that I hung out with Marinka (at a Bronx Zoo event), she made me laugh so hard. From her facial expressions to some of her deadpan quips, she made my day. Obviously humor runs in the family, because her son has the same brand of intelligent humor. He was so hilarious as he “threatened” to tell me his mom’s real name. As evidence of Marinka’s humor: her response to my initial (alphabetical) list of bloggers that I love: Thank you, what a huge compliment. Btw, I recently changed my name to Aarinka, so maybe I should be at the top of the list? Just a thought! Only Marinka would think of that! In any event, if you want a glimpse of NYC living with a comical twist, Marinka’s blog is a must read.

17. Melissa Chapman (MANY sites. She’s the “hardest working” freelance writer that I know!): I adore Melissa! I have mentioned in the past how personal blogs are (usually) not big money-makers? They aren’t, but Melissa is a smart blogger who makes her writing pay. She will take one story and spin it several different ways for a variety of sites. If you get an email from Melissa, be prepared to be “whelmed” by her signature line: “The Naked Truth” column for She Knows; Kids in the City Columnist; Time Out NY Kids contributing writer; WCBS-TV parenting blogger; Family Vacation Critic; This Mom wouldn’t be Caught Dead Wearing Mom Jeans column for Real Moms Guide; Contributing Writer for She Knows; Real Moms Guide Mommy Blogger; iVillage Contributing Writer; etc., etc. On top of all that, Melissa is a doting mom – to her kids AND her dog as well as being a loyal and encouraging friend. I can’t say enough great things about Melissa. She’s simply the best!

18. “Ms. Latina” of Latina on a Mission: The first time that I met “Ms. Latina” was last May at the first “Mom’s Nite Out”. I was a little weirded out at first when she said “Oh, I know you. I follow you on twitter.” (I was just getting used to twitter.) The fact that she was really sweet and bubbly helped me to relax though. Since then, I have always been happy when I see her out and about at various blogging events. She is so warm and personable. Once again, I can’t express how much I admire single moms who are devoted to their kids. “Ms Latina” is a great example in this area. She has two sons…who are doing great. That is no small feat. One of her sons is following in her footsteps and has his own blog. Since I think that variety is the spice of life I especially love how “Ms. Latina” embraces her Latin culture.
