Top 5 Earth Day Events in NYC for Kids

Earth Day 2013 is next Monday, April 22nd. However, there will be a lot of activities and events to celebrate the environment over the weekend. You can read more about the history of the Earth Day movement on earthday.org. Of course there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate our remarkable planet in the five boroughs of NYC. I am sharing my top 5 event picks below. (Actually, it’s more like 45 picks, because one choice shares over 40 happenings!)

Earth Day New York 2013 Events

1. Earth Day Grand Central 2013
(April 20th – 22nd from 10am to 6pm daily at Grand Central’s Vanderbilt Hall)

There will be 3 days of green and sustainable living themed family-friendly activities. Highlights of this free event include live performances, fun kids’ activities and more.

2. Earth Day Union Square
(April 21st staring at 11am in Union Square)

Earth Day New York’s annual Earth Day event will be held in Union Sqaure this year. This free kid-friendly event include live performances, a green-vehicle runway and exhibition and much more.

3. New York City Green Festival

Your family can learn, shop and have “earth-friendly” fun at this popular festival. Highlights include the organic, vegetarian and vegan food court; hands-on workshops; and the Green Marketplace that features products and services from a variety of green and sustainable businesses and organizations. 4. NYC Parks’ Earth Day & Arbor Day Events
