I love “playing around” with beauty products. My mom was an “Avon lady” for many years while I was growing up. I even sold “Mary Kay” for about a minute…until I realized that I hate selling to family and friends. Anyway, beauty items make great last-minute Mother’s Day gifts too. Representatives from Cosmetic Executive Women CEW (a beauty, cosmetics, fragrance and related industries nonprofit professional organization) put together a little beauty package for a Foodie City Mom reader. They will be holding their annual Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards, a beauty award voted on by industry experts, on May 18th in NYC and wanted to give one of you a sampling of some of the finalists. CEW was also kind enough to share some of this year’s leading cosmetic and beauty product trends (for your own gift buying reference):
· Ultra Lip Balms: Beauty balms are all the rage this year, delivering more than just moisture but also sheer shine, color and ingredients to treat and protect skin.
· Advanced Skin Care: Face primers have stepped it up a notch, adding multi-tasking properties such as pore minimization, line reduction, sun protection and bronzing.
· Innovative Hair Color: Foam was the big go-to in hair color this year, re-inventing the home hair coloring experience.
Personally, I would like any of those options…except home hair coloring products. After one bad home hair coloring incident (think handfuls of hair gone!), I leave that to my hair stylist Shanelle!
