Mom’s Night Out NYC: Little Shop of Crafts

mom's night out

I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids. I also love nights out with my friends. (Time alone is important too, but that’s another post!) Recently, I went to Little Shop of Crafts on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with a group of girlfriends. Although I’m not a “crafty mama”, we had a blast.

The thing that I like about this shop is that you only pay for what you decorate, so you can stay as long as you like. You can also reserve a table for no additional fee. It was such a fun, bonding time as we painted, chatted and snacked (you can even bring in your own snacks!) as our pieces dried. Initially, I wanted to put all of the main words from this Lao Tzu quote:

“Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.”

However, due to space issues, I just ended up writing the word “Destiny” in the bottom of a little square container after painting it a beautiful emerald color. I now place my daily “to do” lists into it as a reminder that my actions impact my destiny.

My friend picked it up for me a week later and here it is:

In any event, I definitely recommend a crafting session for a fun Mom’s Night Out. In addition to the memories that you make, there will be a physical object to remind you of the special bonding time.
