Congrats to Rhonda

I have written before about how helpful Mabel’s Labels were in labeling Michael’s things for preschool. We have so many left over that I plan on using them to label his kindergarten items also. (That is if he gets a spot in the local preschool. I don’t think that I need to label his things if I end up homeschooling him for the year!) Anyway, since I still have enough labels, I’m going to give one of you a gift certificate for a Camp/School Pack that I won at the “Role Mommy at the Ritz!” event earlier this year.

I love that I have a full life! On Saturday (after my driving lesson/before going to Queens to spend the rest of the day with my in-laws), I was able to drop by the “Role Mommy at the Ritz!” event hosted by Beth aka Role Mommy. I missed most of the event, but I wanted to stop by as a show of support (I “heart” Beth!).

I’m so happy that I went. When I go into a room, I automatically look around to see if I recognize anyone. Happily, there were a couple of familiar faces along with Beth’s. I had a chance to chat with Barbara of One2One Network. She is so sweet and helpful. She actually gave me a great business idea that I’m considering putting into practice in the near future! I also briefly spoke with Laura Deutsch, the founder of Baby Bites NYC (who I haven’t seen in almost two years) and her adorable daughter. They were on their way out while I was on my way in.

It’s also fun to meet new people. I was able to put some names to faces. For instance, in my rush to get from point “A” to “B” that day, I left my business cards at home. It was fine though, because I had some of my “Mama Cards” from Mabel’s Labels in my purse and I just wrote my website address on the back of them. Little did I know that Julie Cole, one of the founders of Mabel’s (who is pregnant with her 6th child!) was at the event. We laughed at the coincidence when we met. I also met Crafty Mama Abby Peccoriello. It just so happens that her pr person had recently reached out to me and I’ll be doing a giveaway of her fabulous book on our site soon. (It was great to see a visual of a craft in progress – she was helping kids and adults make their own scarves at the event. Many of them were beautiful!) I also met “Nanny to the Stars” Marva Soogrim. I sat at her table, so we had a chance to get to know each other a bit. I really like how she’s using the first half of her life to inspire the next steps. (Rather than doing the actual caregiving, she’s now teaching others how to take better care of their own kids!) Lastly, I met Kristin, one of the Boston-based Manic Mommies (I love that name!). They came to the lunch with a group of moms.

Back in August, I expressed my excitement about Mabel’s Labels’ school combo for kids in this post. Recently, I was happy to hear that the company was launching a new line of “Mama Cards” on the first of this month.

I had heard of mom cards before, but I wasn’t too interested. I reasoned that (as a work at home mom) I already have business cards with my information on it. That should suffice. Then, I saw some of the Mama Cards samples. The five original designs were too cute! Besides the “cute factor” the thing that stood out to me the most was being able to include the kids’ allergies on the cards – very smart indeed! Another great thing about the card is that it has a “Notes” section on the back with six lines, so that you can include additional information. (Besides, I hardly ever bring my business cards to social events, so these cards spare me from having to scrounge around for pen and paper to exchange information.) Lastly, I like that the cards are affordable. They’re only $29 for 100 cards.

In any event, it’s obvious that moms are behind Mabel’s Labels!
