School Supplies

This is the second year that I have needed to buy school supplies for Michael. Each year gets a bit easier. Last year was a bit stressful, because the list was ambiguous regarding sizes / brands / etc. My only challenge this year is that I didn’t receive the list until last week. Some of the specific supplies are sold out locally (i.e. specific types of folders). Everything else is pretty simple.

For those of you who don’t have kids in school yet or who homeschool, I thought that I’d share the brands that the teacher specifically requires. (Several items didn’t require a specific brand, so I assume that the quality is pretty consistent across the board.) I’m sharing this, because I think that teachers are the “experts” when it comes to school supplies.

-16 Crayola crayons (only regular colors)

-1 pair of scissors Fiskar or Westcott brand; No animal scissors; (metal, rounded at the edge)

-1 roll of wide clear tape – Scotch brand only

-1 box of Ziploc freezer bags – gallon size

And

-Although this one didn’t have a brand attached, I thought that the request for “1 package of sharpened #2 pencils – pencils made in U.S.A.” was interesting. I wonder if there’s a difference…

If your kids attend school outside of the home, did your kids’ teachers recommend any other specific brands?
