Normally, I don’t especially like weird looking characters in kid stories, but there’s something about those WorryWoos… The thing that I like the most is that each carefully illustrated book shares a great lesson. The author, Andi Green, does a wonderful job of addressing childhood issues in sensitive ways. The Monster in The Bubble deals with the necessity of being pushed outside of our comfort zones. (I highly recommend this book for when young kids are going through transition times like going to a new school and such.) The Lonely Little Monster teaches a great lesson about being outward rather than self-focused when you’re feeling lonely. (That’s a lesson that many of us adults can take to heart!)

Recently, I was sent some WorryWoos books and a plush to review. Normally, I don’t especially like weird looking characters in kid stories, but there’s something about those WorryWoos…

The thing that I like the most is that each carefully illustrated book shares a great lesson. (That’s a lesson that many of us adults can take to heart!) The last book that I read, The Nose That Didn’t Fit, deals with loving and accepting ourselves rather than trying to hide the things that make us feel insecure. All of the books teach helpful lessons in non-preachy ways. After reading the set of books, I felt like Andi Green was a modern day “Dr. Seuss” (a family favorite). We have not been keeping a whole lot of books lately, but this new series is here to stay. (We are a book family. Both the adult and kid bookcases in our home are overflowing!) The plush was also nice and soft. It’s a light pink though, so it would be brown within a couple of days if I let my two guys keep it. We’re still working on “gentle”…

I’m especially excited that Andi Green is going to give one lucky Mom in the City reader a signed copy of The Monster in The Bubble book ($14.99) and Squeek, The Monster of Innocence plush ($21.50). Once again, if you know of any kids that will be going through major transitions in the new year, these two products would make great holiday gifts.

To win the book and plush, visit Worry Woos and let me know which product is your favorite in the “Comments” section below by December 4th at noon. For an additional entry, comment on an “Ask & Answer” or any other non-giveaway post during the promotion period.

Meanwhile, check out this short video clip featuring Squeek:
