Later today, I’m participating in a “Using Your Mobile Devices in the Kitchen” twitter chat that is being sponsored by Levovo. Along with hosts: Suzanne Kantra and Heidi of Techlicious, my friend Vanessa of French Foodie Mom, and I will be Lenovo Moms community panelists, so I definitely hope that you will stop by. It’s at 1pm EST today so RSVP on the Techlicious site. (Not only will we be covering our favorite Thanksgiving recipes and recipe apps, one lucky chat participant will win a Lenovo Flex 20 desktop prize!)
Technology is constantly used in my kitchen. Laptops, tablets or even my phone (in a pinch) help me to keep my cooking and baking measurements straight. A funny thing happened since I started the food portion of Mom in the City. I have forgotten most of my recipes (?!) Now, I have to pull most of them up onscreen when I’m cooking. I also use mobile devices to try new recipes. I tend to stick to the apps and mobile-friendly websites of my favorite food brands, food magazines and food blogs. Since I have too many food blogs worth noting that I like, I will simply share 7 of my favorite online recipe apps for holiday celebrations below:
1. Official Crock-Pot Slow Cooker
I love my slow cooker!
2. The Manischewitz Recipes & Holidays
I live in a predominately Jewish area…and I love kosher food. This new recipe app is especially great for kosher friends and family who are celebrating Thanksgivukkah!
3. Bon Appetit
This is one of my favorite magazines. (The Foodist is my magazine food writer “crush”.) They also have a new free Thanksgiving app.
4. Holiday Recipes & Party Planning Guide, by Food52
I enjoyed my “behind the scenes” visit to Food52 earlier this year. They produce great work.
This is another one of my favorite food magazines. (They also offer an iOS version, but it is not as well rated.)
6. Epicurious Recipe App
What can I say…I love magazines? This is another great one. (They also have an iOS version, but it is not as well rated.)
Last, but not least, I just had to include ZipList. With this handy little app, you can save all of your favorite online recipes in one location. It doesn’t get much better than that.
These are my top choices. Did I miss any of your favorites? If so, please let me know…and feel free to include a link to your picks. Thanks!
