It’s not a pregnancy glow…

While I was waiting around to get my makeup done for the wedding on the 4th, we bridesmaids talked a little bit about a variety of things. One topic that came up was skin. (Both the bride and the groom have great skin.) We all agreed that genetics is the biggest factor to having great skin. (It was no small coincidence that both the bride and the groom have parents with great skin!) However, the products that we use do make a difference too.

When it was my turn to get my makeup done, the makeup artist said, “You have great skin.” In all reality, my skin is pretty good thanks to genetics. However, it has been especially “dewy” the last couple of days which is not the norm since I have dry skin. I’m going to share the “secret” with you…sugar and avocado!

First, I exfoliated with sugar mixed into my regular cream cleanser.  After rinsing it off. I placed an avocado mask on for 15 -20 minutes. (I simply mashed a little leftover avocado in a bowl and slathered it on my face.) The buttery texture feels so creamy going on…I love it! Best of all, it left my dry skin feeling – and looking – moist after I washed it off. (Because it is so buttery, I recommend washing it off with your cleanser. Don’t worry…there will still be plenty of moisture left in your skin.)

Well, it appears that avocado is just as good for my skin as it is in my mouth! In any event, this is the facial mask that I will be using until the end of the summer. I also think that I will try to use avocado as a hair mask to see if it makes my hair soft like my skin. I’ll keep you posted!
