Spring Cleaning Checklist Printable - How To Deep Clean Your Home

Spring 2021 begins on March 20th. As spring approaches, I usually think about spring cleaning tips. Thankfully, I have a handy Spring Cleaning Checklist printable to help.

Spring cleaning is a tradition that many of us have grown up with and enjoy participating in. It’s a chance to “spruce up” our homes by cleaning and organizing them from top to bottom in preparation for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

I don’t have too much to do this year. Since I had extra time at home with my husband and sons due to the pandemic, we deep-cleaned every room of our home over the span of several months. Right now, we’re in maintenance mode.

To make the cleaning a bit more fun, I split up the duties on 4 pieces of paper. Then, I folded up the paper and each of us picked one. I must say that I was impressed by how well everyone did their duties. I didn’t even have to pay anything but compliments!😊

To help with your spring cleaning, I’m sharing room-by-room spring cleaning tips for apartments. At the end of this post, I will also share a “by room” spring cleaning checklist printable that Homejoy (a former cleaning services company) was kind enough to share with me back in 2015. (I posted it on my refrigerator so that “my guys” would know what to expect.)

7 Easy Spring Cleaning Tips

1. Kitchen: Disinfect countertops, sinks and backsplashes; sweep and mop floors; clean the microwave inside and out (including the turntable); clean and organize drawers and cupboards inside and out; clean the stove/oven inside and out (don’t forget the drip pans, burner grates, control knobs and stove vents); clean the refrigerator inside and out; clean and polish other appliances (i.e. the toaster)/ fixtures/ cabinet hardware/ etc.; dust and wipe down baseboards and clean window sills.

2. Bathrooms: Clean, disinfect and deodorize tile walls, sinks, tubs, showers and toilets; clean and organize the medicine cabinet and other cabinets; clean mirrors; sweep and mop floors (vacuum if carpeted); polish doors handles and other fixtures; dust and wipe down baseboards and clean window sills.

3. Living Room: Dust and polish wood furniture; dust and clean all electronic equipment and knickknacks; vacuum fabric sofas and chairs; vacuum floors (sweep and mop wood floors); polish door knobs/face plates/etc; dust and wipe down baseboards and clean window sills. (Also, if you’re fortunate enough to have a fireplace, clean that and your fireplace tools.)

4. Bedrooms: Launder and change the linens; dust and polish (where necessary) furniture including mirrors, night tables, dressers, and lamps; polish door knobs/face plates/etc; vacuum floors including under beds (sweep and mop wood floors); dust and wipe down baseboards and clean window sills.

5. Dining Room: Dust and polish furniture including glass and wood tables; vacuum carpet or area rugs (sweep and mop wood floors); dust and wipe down baseboards and clean window sills.

6. Entrance and Hallways: Vacuum floors (sweep and mop wood floors); wash fingerprints from all woodwork, door frames, switch plates, etc.; dust and wipe down baseboards and clean window sills.

7. All Rooms: Clean the blinds/window treatments; clean the light fixtures and empty wastebaskets. (Windows should also be cleaned, but professional help might be necessary for this task depending on your living situation.) *Also, don’t forget to tackle the closets and dressers – that’s a whole other post though!

One bonus tip: “Instead of using conventional cleaning supplies try going green and using organic cleaning products this spring. Method products are my favorite, but there are several other non-toxic brands that are good for you and your family. (I still love my Lysol wipes for high-touch areas though!)
