Panda Pop, True Beauty & 9 Lives (Friday Favorites)

August has started on such a sweet note. Yesterday, my family spent the entire day with two older married couples. I enjoy learning from the wisdom of my elders. It helps me to keep my personal priorities straight – God first, my personal health second, family third and then everyone and everything else. Fortunately, my “everything else” includes blogging…and all of the fun campaigns and events that I get to participate in as a blogger. I want to highlight a few of those “blogger perks” in this segment of “Friday Favorites”.

1. Working on fun sponsored campaigns: This month, I’m working  on a couple of cool projects…

-I’m excited to participating in a fun blogging project that my mom and kids encouraged me to take. While visiting my family a while ago, my mom introduced my family to the Panda Pop game. The game’s parent company (SGN) recently reached out to me to work with them on a promotion to increase brand awareness of their game. If you haven’t played it recently, try the game (and/or pass the link along to your game-loving friends). I’ll be writing a more detailed post about this collaboration soon, but I just love it when work and life collide. The company even sent my mom some Panda Pop swag. 🙂

-If you know me, then you know that I think Michelle Obama is an amazing woman. That’s why I was thrilled to be asked to help promote the upcoming Southside With You movie, the story of her first date with President Obama. (You can follow along on social media using the  hashtag.)

2. Living your passion: On the drive home from Virginia, my family was playing a question game. One of the questions involved describing your “dream day”. After I described my dream day, Reggie and the kids mentioned that with just a couple of exceptions (like a personal masseuse), my “dream day” and my actual days were the same. In my mind, that’s the way that it should be! (Granted, they also thought that I was a little crazy to include “4-5 hours of work” in my dream day, but I enjoy working.) If you are in the NYC area on Saturday, September 17th from 8:30am to 5pm, consider attending the 3rd Annual True Beauty Women’s Celebration + Fashion Show. I will be one of the speakers sharing about living my passion as a professional blogger and web developer. (Discounted “early bird” tickets are still available for a few more days at http://www.ogonewyork.com/register.)

3. Attending movie screenings with the family: My entire family went to see Nine Lives, which is opening in movie theaters today. We all really enjoyed it. There were some great messages about the importance of building family over businesses, the impact that kids have on their parents and more. If you’re a cat person, you will especially love this move. (I’ll write more about it next week.)
