Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with (our family’s favorite) Dr. Seuss books

dr seuss birthday books

My family loves Dr. Seuss, so we enjoy celebrating his birthday (March 2nd). When I clean out the boys’ overflowing bookcase, they refuse to let me get rid of his books. They are sentimental favorites. Recently, my youngest son Sean celebrated his sixth birthday. As part of his “favorite things”, we just “had” to stop by a local bookstore to look at some of his favorite books. Below, are our favorites from Dr. Seuss:

Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

I have had a copy of this book since college. The message of the ups and downs of life is so helpful that I often give it away to family and friends for graduations!

The Lorax

I appreciate the “green” message of this book. Seeing the movie and reading the book led to some great conversations regarding our responsibility to the environment.

Green Eggs and Ham

Tip: A little bit of green food dye (or spinach!) mixed in with eggs help to make this book come alive!

Dr. Seuss’s ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book!

Both of my kids learned their ABCs along with this book. Memories…

I could go on and on, but these are the top picks of our family. I recommend celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a trip to the library or local book store. You can also buy his individual books through my Amazon affiliate partner (links above).
