Disney Holiday Cocktail Event / Tinker Bell Talks!

Last night, I was able to attend the Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment holiday cocktail event. It was a fun, low-key Christmas-themed event at Touch.

One fun part of the event was taking a Polaroid picture with Mr. & Mrs. Claus (both had been shrunk and tanned). I said, “It’s not right that I’m bigger than Santa!” (Santa was a VERY slim, young guy. He was sweet though, so it was fun.)

Another activity that I thoroughly enjoyed was decorating my own Crispy Rice Snowman. It was so funny how all of us adults got so into it! Basically, we were given the body (two rice crispy balls with a large marshmallow head). Then, there was a variety of candy (licorice, candy corns, gumdrops, candy dots of various colors, etc.) and icing for us to decorate our snow people however we wished. (I named my snowwoman “Red” because she came out looking like a confused Pippi Longstocking due to her crazy red licorice hair. Oh well, I never claimed to be a “crafty mama”.) After seeing “Red”, my son Michael is already begging to do one of his own. I think that this would make a great winter craft/party activity. The closest instructions that I could find online is here. In any event, this was a great way to interact with new people.

Ultimately though, I was there to see what goodies were coming up for our preschoolers. The most exciting thing that I learned about (especially if you have little girls), is that Disney is going to be releasing a series of (pre-Peter Pan) Tinker Bell DVDs where you’re able to actually hear Tinker Bell talk! The first DVD in that series (Tinker Bell) will be released in October.
