Best Free NYC Outdoor Summer Concert Series for Kids 2013

The summer is such a special time in NYC. There is so much to do including enjoying the many free summer concert series that are available. (I listed over 100 different free summer concerts last year!) Below, I am sharing my top 7 family friendly summer concert picks for 2013. Enjoy!

1. Kids in the Square
Thursdays (June 13th through August 15th) starting at 10am

Presented by the Union Square Partnership, this family-friendly series that is held on the Pavillion at 10am and South Plaza at 11am features music, fitness, and more. Hot Peas & Butter and Randy Kaplan are on the schedule for this year.

2. Mad. Sq. Kids Concerts
Tuesdays and Thursdays (June 11th to August 8th) at 10:30am

Recess Monkey, Robbi K & Friends and The Dirty Sock Funtime Band are scheduled to perform during the 2013 season.

3. River to River Festival
June 15th to July 14th

This festival brings a variety of family and musical performances (as well as dance, theater, film, etc.) to Downtown NYC.

4. Sandbox Music
July 10th to August 16th

Professional musicians from Central Park Brass will perform and teach kids to accompany their live brass instruments with percussion.

5. Summer on the Hudson: Children’s Performance Series
Thursdays (July 11th to August 15th) 10:30am to 11:30am

Families (with kids up to age 7) will enjoy the music portions of this series. Moey’s Music Party and Meg’s Melodies are on the lineup.

6. SummerStage Kids
Multiple dates from June through August

Music plays a large part in this series of events for families with kids (ages 3-12). Mister G and Ken Waldman are just a couple of the musical acts on the lineup.

7. Flushing Town Hall Free Summer Concerts
Sundays on July 14th and 28th, August 11th and 25th
These summer garden concerts are popular with local families.
