NaBloPoMo 2011: Listening to music while writing

IMG_2854On my playlist: “I Smile”

This month I’m participating in NaBloPoMo.  During this month, I will be posting on this blog every day.  Some days, I will use the prompts that the organizers provide. Some days, I won’t…I’ll write something though.  (Hey, it’s Thanksgiving season and at some point soon I need to think about the December holidays!)  So, let me begin with today’s prompt…

Can you listen to music and write? What song did you hear today?

I love music. As soon as I finish my quiet time (morning Bible study), I turn on Pandora and music plays in the background throughout the day.  It soothes me or pumps me up…depending on my desired mood of the moment.

I normally write in the evenings, when the kids are in bed and my husband is doing whatever teacher prep assignments that he needs to do.  If a show isn’t playing on the television in the background, then music is streaming on my Internet radio.  For the last few weeks, I have been listening to a “Kirk Franklin Radio” station on Pandora. (It’s basically a variety of soulful, inspirational music.) “I Smile” by Kirk Franklin was one of the songs that I heard today.  It was a good life reminder, because there is always great and not so great things happening simultaneously.  Such is life. So I smile…and write.
