Champs-Elysées and Arc de Triomphe

After leaving the Orsay Museum, my mom and I went window-shopping along the famous, fashionable Champs-Elysées Avenue. Honestly, I wasn’t that impressed with the shops. While there was a sprinkling of stores that were new to me, the majority was not. What I did enjoy was all of the little cafes along the block/avenue. I really liked that eating was a leisurely outdoor experience in Paris. People sat outside to eat…even in the light rain!

The main reason that we walked along the Champs-Elysées was that I wanted to get a great picture of the Arc de Triomphe, Napoleon’s (huge) antique arch that was created to celebrate the victories of the “Great Army”. Let me tell you…I was a totally crazy tourist when it came to getting that shot. I kept going in the middle of the street (at crosswalks where there were waiting areas, of course!) trying to get an unobstructed photo of the Arc de Triomphe.  As the cars whizzed past, I thought to myself, “This is ridiculous! If I get hit by a car while trying to get this photo, that would be so foolish. Reggie would kill me!” Obviously I survived. I have to give it to them – my angels work overtime! In any event, I love the resulting photos of the Arc.
