How to pitch a tent

Have you ever slept outside in a tent?  Well, even though Camp Orenda had custom made canvas tent cabins, I insisted that we sleep in The North Face tent that Jessica had sent us during our camping trip.  She had sent this really great Mountain Manor 6, a 6 person tent (since a 4 person tent can get really small…especially with kids!) for us to camp in and we were going to use it!

Reggie hedged..”Well, what if we just set up the tent?” Uh…no. “Okay then,” he tried “what if we stay in the tent for a little while to test it out and then go back to our cabin?” Absolutely not.  After all of that hemming and hawing (of course, the kids were on Reggie’s side), it turned out that the guys really enjoyed sleeping in the tent after all.  It was actually quite comfortable. Thankfully, we had listened to our friend Lesley who had encouraged us to sleep on an air mattress inside of the tent…rather than on the ground in our sleeping bags as I had originally planned to do! (Number 1 tip before going camping: Ask experienced campers for advice!)

The tent was  easy to assemble. Granted, we had a guide to help us, but Reggie feels confident that he can set it up by himself in the future.  “Do you think that it will fit in our dining room or living room so that I can practice pitching it at home?” Reggie wondered aloud.

Just in case you plan on going camping, here is a visual of the guys pitching the tent…
