Nickelodeon All Access Cruise: Day 4 (Great Stirrup Cay)

Sean and I started off our day by getting slimed. Reggie and Michael observed while we were doused in a (not so) gooey, green concoction. It was messy but fun. After getting cleaned up, we had a quick breakfast and then headed to Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island. The island is still under construction but there was plenty of beachfront and a dining area – so we were fine. Sean spent the majority of time doing one of his favorite things – playing in the sand. Michael and I spent most o the time in the salty water. If Michael would have had his way, we would still be in the water. A woman (who wasn’t thinking very clearly) started throwing large rocks in the water for the kids to go fetch (?!), so that gave me a great reason to drag Michael out. While on the island, we teamed up with another family to complete a scavenger hunt and then had a bbq lunch. (The day before, Reggie had mentioned that his cruise food happiness would be complete if there was a barbecue with ribs before we went home. Of course, there were ribs at the island barbecue, so Reggie was a happy cruiser!)

Later that evening, we dropped the kids off to Kids Crew while Reggie and I went to dinner and spent some alone time. We went to Chin Chin, an Asian Fusion restaurant. It had a cover charge of $15 per person, but it was worth so much more. (On Day 1 of the cruise I didn’t like that there were additional cover charges for some of the restaurants on the cruise. Now, I understand and think that it’s still a great value for what you get.) The calamari alone was so perfectly cooked at Chin Chin that it was worth the cover charge alone!

After we picked up the kids and gave them a quick dinner, the entire family went to a Karaoke Blast. The singing wasn’t that great, but the kids who were singing were wholehearted :-). We ended the night by meeting a couple of Nickelodeon characters. “Ming Ming!” Sean yelled excitedly – he loves the Wonder Pets. “But I’m in love with Dora,” he reminded me, “I know kid, I know…”

This was a “press trip + 1”, so I only paid the normal cruise price for 2 family members (since everyone insisted on coming along).
