My First Mother’s Day 2010 Flowers

When I picked Michael up from school today, he proudly handed me this:

His little face was beaming with pride. “It’s for Mother’s Day” he explained. After I reassured him that I loved the gift, I asked him how he paid for it. (I hadn’t give him any money for the school’s plant sale yet.) He said that he didn’t know/maybe my husband had given him the money. I was pleasantly surprised that Reggie and Michael had been able to buy the flowers without me knowing about it.

Michael has been so protective of that plant/flower. He made sure that I placed it right next to me on the bench while he played at the playground after school. Then, on our walk home, he held it on top of the stroller as I pushed Sean “to make sure that it didn’t fall”. Then, we were at home, he took it and put it on the windowsill in my room. After asking for water, he then gave the flower “just a little” water. It was just so sweet to see how attentive and careful he was about his little gift for me. My heart just melts!

Later, I learned that my husband had not given Michael any money for the flower. We owe someone money. Oh, well. In any event, I love my little gift, because it came from Michael’s heart. Now I just hope that I don’t kill the Allyson Heather/Cuphea hyssopifolia before the little purple flowers bloom! (I have an awful track record with live plants and flowers…)
